…Well…stuffed!
Say hello to the Rhinovirus or as you might know it the common cold, Doctorish folk refer to it as ‘Acute viral nasopharyngitis. Most of us just call it snot! Apparently it only takes about a dozen or so of these little bleeders to make you feel like…well…you know. Rubbish. The reason it’s so bleedin efficient is all to do with the fact that it has got all those nodes that fit like a cellular glove to just about any of the cells in our nose & throat. Once it gets in it takes part in what can only be described as a rabbitesque orgy of reproduction, making multiple whoopee as it goes & wreaking cellular havoc. The other crazy thing is it’s so, so, SO small. Viruses are about 100 times smaller than bacteria. (Which are super tiny anyway) Most viruses which have been studied have a diameter between 10 to 300
nanometres. (equal to one billionth of a metre). They truly are quite amazing and cause such havoc. Especially in a 45 year old web designer with a genetic disposition to catching them with the enthusiasm of a Butterfly collector in a summer meadow. Ho Hum……..
Snotty blogging
