Phew! That was a task & a half BUT I’m really, REALLY pleased with the finished product.
Next up the aforementioned beta testing with some Year 10′s & 11′s, the best critics by far!
I’ll let you know how we get on.

One of the exciting things I’m working on at the moment is a total revamp of our students network homepage.
It’s going to be packed with lots of great personalised interactive features that give our student community what they want & need.
It’s taking a while to build along with everything else that’s going on BUT I’m enjoying the challenge.

Coming online very shortly a new frog powered Staff Vault area. It’s a repository for training and professional development materials. The vault also features a new widget to quicklink to the content from the Staff homepage.
Looking forward to seeing how it’s used.

Just finished the ‘Homework Hunter’ widget which students can now add to their Bidefrog homepage.
It’s a variation on the student feed widget BUT only shows homework related tasks and links directly to the Homework Hunter page.
We are trialling the student end of the setup in the last couple of weeks of term, I’ll let you know how we get on.

One of the latest additions to Bidefrog are the first two in a whole series of ‘Frog Tube Channels’ that will be showcases for video clips to support the curriculum as well as including engaging content.
Soon to be launched is the third in the series the ‘History Channel’ making use of the wide range of online clips that are often blocked by the blanket SWGFL filtering system.

The latest crop of Frog widgets to be released this week include some more interactive content to keep our students logged in to the Learning Platform.
They include Mr Skinners ‘Goals Of The Decade’ selection where you can also vote on your favorite strike.
The ‘Mind-blowing Stuff’ widget was inspired by being shown a You Tube clip on Quantum Levitation & Locking.
Science Teacher Mr Young has now also provided me a whole series of excellent video clips which will feature on the forthcoming Frog Tube Channels.
The Team News & My Maths widgets were requested by students & the Gallery widget is to support the A level Photography course.
Student s can add them via the usual route.

Nearly a full 2 MONTHS! has gone by since I last had the chance to write a post which is frankly pretty rubbish really. The workload has been staggering heavy lately with a lot of emphasis on our Frog LP. Rolling it out to years 7,8 & 9 as well as staff training, presentations and continual development. The widgets have been a big hit with students and I’ve already had 3 of the 10 I’ve developed (Tide Tables, Guitar tuner & Simon memory game) accepted in the official Frog widget store which means we can spread the widget love with other frog schools.
The full list of home-made widgets goes something like this:
1). Local Tide Tables. (RSS powered)
2). Frog Tube Video Tutorials.
3). Sam Learning Widget.
4). Guitar Tuner. (Flash based)
5). FrogTunes Player. (Flash & xml based)
6). Simon Memory Game (Flash)
7). Christmas Countdown. (Flash)
8). Movember ’Tachetotaliser’
9). Flash based drum machine.
10). FrogPad Admin Msg
The main plan has been to develop one or two a week to keep students & staff interested. However, the big present for students will be the re-enabling of the Frog-Chat function during the Christmas holidays.
Overall enthusiasm for Frog from all parties has been very favourable and I reckon the trick to maintain this initial level of engagement will be to develop new and crucially ‘useful’ apps & widgets over the coming year until it becomes a natural part of day-to-day school life.
