With Matt Smith leaving the role of Dr Who I thought it might be interesting to see who our student community think should be the next holder of the Sonic Screwdriver. The smart money is suggesting the first ever female Doctor! with the various online shortlists grouping together roughly the same list of names. A quick ‘Polldaddy’ poll later & the votes are rolling in already. I’ll let you know the Bideford College prediction soon.

Homework Checker Beta Live & Online
With the release of this terms newsletter comes the announcement that we are looking for a small group of parents to Beta Test our Homework Checker system.
It allows parents to monitor their childs/childrens homework tasks set by Teachers using the students Homework Hunter setup.
If you are a parent and wish to assist in the testing of the system simply email webmaster@bideford.devon.sch.uk with ‘Homework’ in the subject field.
‘TAT’ Teaching Assistants Timetables

Currently part way through development is a Frog Powered Teaching Assistant Timetable.
Our brilliant team of TA’s have an ever changing timetable of subjects & students to assist and the current paper system is constantly being revised.
The new set up will allow each individual TA to manage their own weekly timetables online.
It’s odd but a simple two weekly calendar is actually a right faff to build in Frog due to the table & copy & paste limitations in the frog bricks editor.
(One of the very few gripes I have with the otherwise excellent system)
However a little bit of grafting on my part will go a long way to helping our TA’s manage their invaluable job easier.
It’s Back!…..
…and this time it’s better than ever before! Eggwatch 2013 LIVE from Faraday Block is now online and we think that all the action is due to happen next Monday or Tuesday.
I’ve even been promised that there is no chance of baking the eggs this year. (So long as the thermostat doesn’t blow up again.)
On a more serious note I’ll be e mailing our feeder primary schools as well as our staff as the ‘hatch fest’ coincides with ‘National Science & Engineering Week’.
Tune in now for the non stop action.
’575 Guy’ Gets A New Face & Home

Currently about 1/2 way through developing a new home for ’575 Guy’ and his team of Super Techies.
It’s a frog based interface that improves on the current setup in a number of ways and will allow our elite team of Techies to access core information more easily.
They seem very happy with the Beta Testing that’s currently going on.
Riding A New Wave

Just finished the BETA test version of a new online system to support our SEN department .
The ‘Wave’ is a way of recording all the student interventions for additional support so that the SEN team have an up to the minute database of actions being taken.
Initial reactions from the SEN team have been extremely positive & we should have it up & running by the end of the week.
