Just about to hit the net is the new LOL (Lab On Loan) website. As a specialist science college one of the many things we do for our feeder primary schools is loan them scientific equipment to enable them to carry out projects they wouldn’t normally have the resources to do so. Up until recently it’s primarily been a paper based ordering system with various documents, calendars & spreadsheets to record the movement of the LOL science kits. I was tasked with looking into a way to bring part or all of the system online. Yet again WordPress came to the rescue with a quite simply brilliant e commerce plugin. It enables the LOL to centralise EVERYTHING within the blog. On the face of it the online ordering couldn’t be simpler for the end user but the benefits come from the back-end tools which are a doddle to use & update as well as providing a great record keeping database.

While doing my weekly trawl of all things wordpress, I came across this realy neat ‘Plugin’ for WP that will configure the blog to display properly on an iPhone. It’s called WPtouch. All I need to now is find someone with an iPhone & try it out!!! I’ve also realised that the Web Dev blog is starting to look like it’s actually written by Steve Jobs. I’ll endeavor to correct this obvious misalignment a.s.a.p.
Anyway, for more info have a look at Brave New Code’s website.
