Bideford College ‘A’ level results meant smiles all round when students arrived to collect them with most students gaining places at their first choice university. Two students gained straight A*s to secure their places at Cambridge University. Overall the pass rate was 94% with half the students gaining high grades across the board.
Veronica Matthews, Principal said ‘These results reflect the hard work and dedication of students and staff as well as the support and encouragement of parents and carers. We are really proud of them and what they have achieved and wish them all well for the future’.

Patrick Neill, Head of Sixth Form added ‘I am delighted with the progress students have made across the subjects. Once again, despite the national picture and claims in the national media, the majority of students from Bideford College will be progressing to their chosen university’.
On an individual level, 5 students gained two or more A grades in their Advanced Level studies.
Ryan James (Chemistry A*; Mathematics A*, Further Mathematics A* and Physics A*), Katie Scott (Biology A*; Mathematics A* and Geography A*) Katie Leveridge (English Literature A; History A and Geography A), Chase Howe (Biology A; Mathematics B and Physics A) and Rayna Sheppard (Health & Social Care A*A; and Sociology B).
Ryan James will be studying Mathematics at Cambridge University; Katie Scott will also attend Cambridge University to study Geography following a gap year; Katie Leveridge will be studying English Literature & History at Lancaster University; Chase Howe goes to Cardiff University to study Zoology and Rayna Sheppard will be studying Childhood, Youth & Educational Studies at Bath Spa University.
A further nine students who achieved grade A+ in one subject, Marc Day (Mathematics), Ed Gibbett (Business Studies), Nick Hawkins (Mathematics), Hattie Hill (Law), Saffron Jones (Geography), Jennifer March (Health and Social Care), Ben Tolley (Graphics) and Beth Weir (PE)
