Sports Leader Young Ambassadors win visit from Olympic Wenlock

Three year 11 Sports Leader Young Ambassadors from Bideford College, Kara Sheppard, Sarah Short and Selina Cloutman, were so inspired by the Olympic Games that they entered a national competition set up by the Youth Sport Trust.

They had to organise young people from their school and encourage them to make posters relating to the different countries entering the Olympic Games.
They worked with students from years 7, 8 and 9 and the poster designed by the year 9 students won the whole competition.
The talented artists were Daisy Cox, Ben Searles, Jason Clifton, Lorisa Crouch and Gabby Worthington.

The prize was a visit by one of the Olympic Mascots. Kara, Selina and Sarah wanted to share the excitement with Bideford’s primary schools and so a football skills and tournament afternoon was organised for the same day as the mascot visit.

On Tuesday 29th May Wenlock arrived to meet and congratulate the Bideford Young Ambassadors and the artists they worked with. He then went on to meet the pupils from Instow and Abbotsham Primary schools who came to Bideford College to take part in a football event organised by the Sports Leaders from year 9 at Bideford College and refereed by the boys from years 8 and 9 who had passed their mini-whistler football refereeing course earlier this term.
