Heat Treatment Soft Soldering Fumes and Fluxes 1.025
Adaption Sheet – Soft Soldering, Fumes and Fluxes
Staff must also read the data sheet associated with the solder used at BCC (Omega Rosin Free 63/37 2% Flux Fast Flow Solder 22swg). It should be noted that this product although Rosin Free does contain lead. Lead fumes are negligible at normal soldering temperature (up to 500c).
Fume Extraction – If soldering tasks are prolonged staff are asked to use the Purex Fume extraction units available within the department.
Video – The video available on the blog details the basics of soldering and covers many of the H&S issues associated with soldering including examples of good practice. Staff are asked to show this video to students at the start of each new module.
