Meetings for TEN TORS training walks will be on the WEDNESDAY before the Sunday’s walk. We will meet in B12 between 12.30 and 1.30pm. Do NOT go to tutor, come straight to meeting and I will mark you in. It is YOUR responsibility to get to the meeting. If for any reason you are unable to get there it’s up to you to  contact me via the blog or leave a message on my desk, no excuses!!!

The first training walk for year 9 and above is Sunday 7th November. All those past participants who want to take part MUST complete and return their MED1 and permission forms ASAP. They can be down loaded fron the document section or collected from student reception. Newcomers are welcome but MUST get in touch with me first.

This years event was held on the hottest weekend of the year. Through the blistering heat our team battled round the 35mile route carrying full kit. The two day event is a real challenge and not for the inexperienced as the distance and terrain is similar to Ten Tors. Again our team was one of the youngest involved but apart from some serious cases of ‘chaffing’ only one member had to retire due to a sprained ankle. Showing true team spirit our members crossed the finish line together early Sunday afternoon. Two of the youngsters who completed both this event and Ten Tors said that in fact the South Moors Rivers was indeed the toughest due to the unfamiliar terrain and weather conditions, so a huge CONGRATULATIONS to all those who represented their college.

Twenty Four Students from Bideford College & the Bideford Expedition Group took part & completed this years 50th Anniversary Ten Tors event on Dartmoor. The four teams navigated their way along the 35 & 45 mile routes through, at times, some challenging conditions, camping out on the moor on Saturday night. All the youngsters showed real grit & determination to complete one of the toughest youth challenges around today.

CONGRATULATIONS to all those who took part in the Exmoor Challenge on Saturday.
Thanks also to some of our older members with their help of we were able to enter ten teams this year. 
On the day the weather turned out better than predicted and fine for walking.  
Teams were looking good at the half way point but towards the end of the tough 16 mile course some we beginning to struggle.  Still with typical grit and determination our youngsters battled on to cross the finish line. Well Done!!!

The day was a great success and we look forward to presenting you all with your certificates at the presentation evening on Thursday May 20th.
