The next walk is on Saturday 17th March. We meet as usual at 8am outside college reception. We intend to return around 4.30pm.

Registration meeting is Tuesday Lunch time in B12 and the navigation session is Wednesday 3.10 in A02.

As the places for Exmoor Challenge are allocated in January we need to have a meeting to sort out groups. Any students who want to take part in the event on Saturday 5th May MUST attend the meeting or get a friend to resister their place.

Meeting Friday 6th January at lunchtime in B12.

Good news!! The Expedition Group has been allocated teams again for this years event on Saturday 30th April.

Last year our walkers raised a fantastic amount for the Children’s Hospice South West. Lets hope we can do the same again this year.  

Next training walk is Saturday 12th February.
The registration meetings will now be on the TUESDAY before each walk due to the change to Y9 assembly.
Also the next navigation session will be after college on Wednesday 9th Feb in A02.

First training walk  Saturday 15th January. Meet outside reception at 8am Registration meeting B11 WEDNESDAY during tutor.

All those involved in Exmoor Challenge for the first time will need to attend two out of the three sessions.  We will meet in A02 at 3.10 and intend to finish around 4pm.

Meetings will be held in B12 during tutor on the WEDNESDAY before each walk. All those involved will need to attend so they can be given any information about the walk, book their seat on the bus and arrange for any kit they need to borrow. Please remember all borrowed kit is to be returned to the Community Office first thing on a TUESDAY morning.

There will be three training day walks and after college navigation sessions for those wanting to take part in this years Exmoor Challenge event:

Day Walk 2 –  Saturday 12th February

Day Walk 3 – Saturday 2nd April

23 youngsters braved the weather to complete the Taster Day Walk.
Welcombe boast some fantastic views from its coastal paths but you have to tackle the huge hills to see them!!! Our Y8 folks had no problem as they romped their way up and down the tough terrain. All enjoyed their day and certainly seem up to completing the Exmoor Challenge next May.

Our first walk will hopefully give you an idea of just what the Expedition Group is all about with a’ gentle’ coastal path walk around Welcombe.

Registration meeting will be on the Wednesday before  in B12 at 1pm. DO NOT go to tutor go straight to meeting and I will register you there.

 You  get a lie in with this one as we don’t meet until 9am outside college reception but don’t forget you MUST have a set of waterproofs, hat and gloves, comfortable clothes, food and drink for the day. Please collect borrowed kit  from the Community Office on Friday 3.10pm.

The promise of a wet & windy day in Woolacombe  is not the sort of thing to entice many people out of a nice warm bed early on a Saturday morning, but it didn’t seem to put off 39 Year 8 students who took part in the Year 8 taster walk this weekend. Despite the poor weather all three teams made it around the route in record time at least an hour quicker than normal. Staff were genuinely surprised at the speed but not at the enthusiasm shown by the group. Hopefully it will inspire them to take part in the future training sessions with a view to entering next years Exmoor Challenge. One of the highlights of the day was a chance encounter, just East of Bull point, with canine legend ‘Scooby Doo’ who was taking part in a British Heart Foundation sponsored walk from Ilfracombe to Woolacombe. No sign of Scrappy or Shaggy but it didn’t seem to bother anyone too much. Well done to all who took part.
